Fostering or adopting children with disabilities and additional/medical needs
Wednesday 24th February 2021 - ONLINE
This year, alongside our regular online fostering and adoption information sessions the Home for Good team will be offering a series of special focus information sessions. This session is for anyone considering fostering or adopting, whether for their immediate or long-term future, with a focus on children with disabilities and additional/medical needs.
Disabled children are three to four times more likely to be abused and/or neglected than non-disabled children, and children with disabilities wait disproportionately longer for adoption than children without disabilities additional needs. The need for carers and adopters for children with disabilities of additional needs is significant.
The Home for Good team will outline some of the joys and challenges this can present for people who foster or adopt and something of what the application process can involve and the support you can expect. There will also be some input from people who already have experience in this field and there will also be a chance to ask questions and connect with our team.
